Rocke

Rocke , a 5 pound ball of love who was found
as a stray, is now safely and happily settled in a home of his own where he enjoys long
morning walks, lots of cuddling, a fenced in yard and even visits to a playful friend (a
previous MMR maltese who was adopted by the daughter of Rocke's new owner). Rocke came to
MMR with a large bladder stone and underwent surgery and adjustment to a new diet to help
prevent future stones. Rocke loves to snuggle, get belly rubs and is QUITE the kisser. He
is a honey.

Sulee

A MMR volunteer found out about a dog in her
neighborhood named Sulee (Korean for "Snowy") whose owners were returning to
Korea and unable to bring their 8 month-old little, Maltese girl. Not only did the
volunteer suggest that they surrender Sulee to MMR, but she took her in and found a
fantastic adopter -- who is her neighbor! Some times things in life happen for a reason (a
GOOD reason) -- in this case, Sulee needed help and a MMR volunteer was there. We are so
happy for these wonderful events.

Lucky

Lucky came to MMR as a 7-year-old owner
surrender, along with a maltese named Nicky. It became obvious pretty soon that the two
were not closely bonded, and Nicky was fostered and adopted out separately. During his
foster period, Lucky had some medical and behavioral issues that had to be resolved before
a successful adoption could take place. MMR provided both traditional and holistic
veterinary care and a session with an obedience trainer. Lucky made great progress working
through his fear and dominance issues. But the real breakthrough came when Lucky met his
future forever family. He immediately fell in love with them and his friendship with
canine sibling, Gladdie, is getting stronger each day. His new parents saw in Lucky,
"a happy dog waiting to get out," and after just a few days in their care, that
prophecy has been fulfilled.

Precious

Precious, a small female maltese, came to MMR after being
rescued and taken in by the AC&C shelter. MMR provided medical treatment and loving
care in a foster home to get her ready for a new life. Her new family agrees that she is a
very special little bundle. Her dad told MMR that in only two days she started feeling
right at home: she dances when the leash comes out, shes confident on walks, she
stares at him lovingly. We are glad she is now part of a happy family.

George

George, a 6.5 year-old, came to MMR when his family could
no longer take care of him with the addition of a new baby. The happy go lucky boy was
adopted by a family who fell in love with his sweetness and charm. His new mom is a
hospice nurse and even plans on taking George on visits with her! Her little girl is
overjoyed to have a dog and immediately brought him to her room to show him his new home.
George loves playing ball, and has a nice backyard to play in.

Destiny

Destiny, a 1-year-old Maltese mix, was given
to MMR by a woman who saved her from daily abuse of being hit with sticks and attacked by
larger dogs. Destiny is a sweet, friendly, active little girl who loves to play with toys
and give kisses. She has gone from rags to riche. Her new family includes two children who
will enjoy playing with Destiny in her new fenced in backyard.

Shayna

Shayna has been well loved and cared for, but her owner
could not longer continue to care for her. MMR found her a family who fell in love with
her right away. Shayna is in a loving household in Brooklyn with two cats. Her caregivers
mainly work from home, but on the few days they don't, her new mom has made plans to take
Shayna with her to work. Her mom is a composer, so Shayna will have lots of beautiful
music and love in her life.

Chip

Chip, a 9-year-old boy, has been well taken care of. His
owner became seriously ill and knew that she could not continue to give him the care he
needed. She unselfishly made arrangements with MMR to get him into foster in order to find
a good, new home. Chips foster family fell in love with him and decided to make it
official. He has endeared himself into their hearts as well as into the hearts of his new
canine siblings.

Andy

Andy, a 12-year-old male, came to MMR after being
surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for him. After overcoming a persistent
infection and some other medical issues, Andy's foster family decided he was too special
to give up. His new family includes several cats--Artie, Buddy, Iffy, Gracie, Maxine and
Romeo. Andy thrives living in a home with cats and other dogs and truly "gets along
with everyone." He particularly enjoys sitting on his new mom's lap, getting belly
rubs, basking in the sun in his lovely enclosed yard and barking at squirrels. Despite his
age, he is frisky and playful. He is a welcome addition to a household filled with animals
and love.

Pia

Pia has come a long way from the matted fur
ball she was when MMR first met her. This was a dog whose mats were so thick and solid
that she had to be shaved to the skin by a groomer so that she could start fresh. While
shaving her, the groomer found her dew claws so long and overgrown they actually wrapped
completely around her front legs. She also had hot spots she chewed incessantly, flaky
pimply skin, infected eyes and was just so sad and morose...though always sweet and always
loving long leashed walks. Due to good veterinary care and the love and attention
surrounding her, Pia is a different girl today. And off to her new life she went, as the
princess she already is!
