Pokie

Pokey, a 5-year-old boy,
came from Long Island via coordination between MMR and a Long Island shelter. Pokey's
owner wanted to surrender him at the shelter, but they suggested that she get in touch
with MMR. Pokey has been re-named Lucky by his new family. Lucky has a deck, a big back
yard and a loving family - what more could this sweet guy need!

Buddy

MMR was contacted by another
local rescue group, S.A.V.E., who found a stray 7-year-old male Maltese in Queens. After
an unsuccessful search for his owners, the group cared for all his medical needs, then
contacted MMR for foster and placement, as their facility was devoted to Pit Bulls. MMR
named this sweet little guy Buddy and started looking for a home for him. The perfect home
was found with a family that had room in their hearts and home for Buddy after recently
losing their pet to illness. Buddy has made his new family laugh again with his
antics...and his love of shoes!

Harold

Harold, a 2 year-old male,
was surrendered by his owner to the AC&C because she was going to have a baby and did
not have the time to care for him. MMR took him into foster and found him a new home. It
was love at first sight for Harold when he met his new "mom". He showered his
new family with lots of kisses.

Scooter

Scooter, an 11-month-old puppy, came to
MMR from the AC&C. They thought he was a Maltese but after his long and matted hair
was shaved down, he looked totally NOT Maltese at all. He is most likely a Bichon Frise or
Poodle/Terrier mix. We took this little boy into foster care. As Scooter loves kids and
loves an extreme running program as a part of his daily routine, a home was found for him
where he can enjoy both. A dog-filled neighborhood where he can make lots of friends and a
Maltese relative in his new "grandparents' " home are bonus points!

Katie and Allie

Katie and Allie were surrendered to MMR
by their owner who couldn't give them the attention they required due to a drastic change
in her work hours. Being young, healthy and sweet, they were quickly adopted and spent
their first birthday with their new family.

Remy and Martin

Remy and Martin, a father and son duo,
were surrendered by their owners who had no time to give them the attention they needed.
These two guys, 8 and 6 years old, are quite vocal but very cute. They needed a quiet home
as apartment life was too distracting with all the city sounds to bark at! Luckily, MMR
was able to find such a home, where they can now take it easy in the country.

Nicky

Nicky came to MMR from a Hudson Valley
area animal shelter. Nicky was said to have a nipping issue when startled, so the shelter
would not adopt him out and came directly to MMR to take him into foster and assess his
personality and find the best home for him. We did just that and found Nicky a new home
where he received a new name. N icky now goes by the name of Jake and has been getting his
new bichon "sibling" off the couch and playing.

Miles

Miles came to MMR from the Manhattan
AC&C. After being treated for an ear infection and getting some dental work, MMR was
able to find him a nice family. They fell in love with this "older" boy and
think he is exactly what they were looking for.

Juliet

Juliet, a three-year-old deaf girl, was
surrendered by her owner who could not provide her the medical attention she required. Her
foster family fell in love with this sweetie and decided to adopt her. Juliet's
"mom" has been working very hard with her using sign language. She knows the
sign for sit and is working on lie down. To top it all off, her family includes her very
own "Romeo"; a MMR maltese adopted a year earlier.

Fluffy

Fluffy, a three-year-old male, was
surrendered to the Staten Island AC&C shelter by his owner. He was said to have
separation anxiety. MMR found him a good home that was willing to work with him and take
him to obedience classes. He even has a new doggie sister to learn with. Loaded with
personality, energy and charm, Fluffy was an immediate hit with his new family.
