JJ

JJ   JJ and Bret

After seven years, new obligations (lots of human babies) kept JJ isolated from the family he had grown to love. He became over-protective of his chosen human and resented being kept apart from the family. So his original family turned to MMR for help. In foster, his new MMR friends discovered JJ's incredible personality. At merely five pounds, JJ was a tough, independent little guy, but with such endearing qualities. And he was so smart! JJ loved playing his special form of "baseball", returning a gently rolled tennis ball with his nose. We waited until the very best home was available. And we found the perfect match with Cyra. Because she was retired and was a true "dog person", she had all the time in the world to appreciate JJ's very special personality. And he loves Cyra, giving her JJ kisses each morning. We're so happy for Cyra and our little, beautiful, JJ.  Here's JJ giving his first "hello" to Cyra's grandson. They are destined to become best friends.

Lilly Mae

Lilly

Lilly Mae was kept in the basement of a house and never saw the light of day nor felt the warmth of a human hand for six years. As a breeders bitch, no attention or love was given to this little girl. Despite this depravation, Lily Mae loves all humans. Her adoptive Mom is totally amazed. In her new home, Lilly Mae frolics in the sun and enjoys all the wonderful things there are to see and sniff. Lilly Mae is like the Energizer Bunny - she never stops. Her tail is in perpetual motion. When you look at her she immediately flips on her back for a belly rub. Lilly Mae shows us the true magic of a rescue dog, they love us despite all. And we are truly blessed for it.

Bear

Bear

Bear (originally "Cody") was loved and cherished by the Mom and kids in his original family, but became the product of divorce when Mom and kids had to move to a no-pets building. Dad didn't want him, because he was the "wife's dog". It broke our hearts to see how Bear approached every child on the street, searching for his original family.

Danielle had adopted Petey from MMR and had always wanted two. She saw this photo on the internet and begged to meet our beautiful boy. It only took a few moment, for Danielle to know that Bear, a cuddly "Bear" of a boy, was destined for her family. What a wonderful match!

Fogarty

 Fogarty Before      Fogerty After

Fogarty was dropped off at the Newark, NJ shelter on a cold February day. He was too old and too sickly looking for his owners to care any more, despite years of being a loving companion, But our member, Dale, and her husband, Carl, came running to get him into foster. After only a few weeks of TLC, Fogarty began to brighten. Getting some much needed dental work done made such a difference. We knew we needed to find a very special family to adopt our Fogarty and we did. Linda & Frank came to Nyack, NY from way out in eastern L.I. to meet Fogarty and simply fell in love. We're told that Frank particularly loves caring Fogie around in his arms, so charmed by Fogarty's sweet ways. Fogarty is now in his forever home, thanks to Dale, Carl and their family. Here's Fogarty's "before" and "after".

Junior and Snoopy

Junior and Snoopy

Although rejected by their first human companions, Junior and Snoopy truly loved each other. They looked out for one another and had such incredible personalities. Their foster Mom described them as "delicious". Diane and her daughter, Emma, had been considering the adoption of Westies, but were taken by Junior and Snoopy's photo on the internet. And our two boys were taken by them! So now Diane walks Junior and Snoopy after work over to the school to meet their new best friend, Emma, each day. They are full members of such a loving household. This is where these two wonderful boys belong

Paco

PacoAll our dogs are special, but Paco is extra-special, because he has brought so much joy to one of our MMR families who recently lost their canine companion (dear Cloudio). Paco had also suffered a loss. His owner has passed away nearly two years before. He had been confined all that time to his owner's apartment, although his owner's daughter came in each day to feed and walk him. But he suffered from lack of companionship that all dogs crave. Luckily, the owner's daughter realized that rescue was the best alternative for Paco. When two MMR members went in to meet Paco, they knew immediately where he should go -- to JP and Bobby. Paco's hair was long and matted, his nails nearly two inches long. But we took care of all his physical needs. Soon he was home with Bobby and JP, along with CoCo and Stormy. And he fit right in, delighting everyone with his love for play. He has filled some pretty big "paws", and we believe that Cloudio is looking down with love.

Handsome

Handsome

Handsome came from a "broken home". His owners had gotten a divorce, causing Handsome to be frustrated, lonely and frightened. Because Handsome had been ignored for some time, he was confused about his place in the "pack" and sometimes bit. Luckily, we found a wonderful family who understood that dogs, like children, need limits and guidance. They already had Bubbles, a Maltese who longed for a companion. When Handsome's fosters delivered him to his new home, Handsone knew immediately that this was the place for him. He loved Mom, Dad, Bubbles and the girls right away. He knew this is where he belonged. Handsome is finally home for good!

Molly

molly

Molly is a gentle soul. We looked for the same in a human for her placement and found it in Robin. Molly had been a breeder's dog who had never been a "pet". But Molly longed to be one. Her idea of heaven was in a lap of someone who loved her. Molly found her special place.

Petey

Petey

Petey was many times blessed. Found on the street by a Good Samaritan, he was taken in by Sammy who loved him. Unfortunately, Petey did not like Sammy's other dogs, so Sammy, reluctantly, contacted MMR for help. Petey was such a good boy in foster with Kathleen & Tricia, we knew it wouldn't be long before his special someone came forward. This "someone" was Danielle, who fell in love the moment she saw Petey on the internet. Once they met, Petey made himself right at home and was comfy in his new home and lovely new bed. Two very special "someone's" became a family.
