Blake
Blake is a young, energetic guy who was found as a stray in Queens, NY. We discovered in foster that our dear Blake was quite fearful -- of new sounds, new people, new situations. He needed a very quiet and loving place to feel safe. MMR found him the right home in Smithtown, NY where he would have the attention and understanding he needs to become a happy boy. Blake has found his nirvana -- love, understanding and a backyard where he can chase squirrels to his heart's content.

Jasper
Jasper was a young boy, less than a year old, when MMR got the call from his owners that they needed to give him up. Their lives were in disarray, so they kept this sweet boy in exile in their garage because they didn't have the time or energy to deal with him. We were delighted to take in Jasper who was so loving and sweet, but still a puppy who required lots of attention and some guidance from a committed owner. Susan, an MMR member (and adopter of Nina) became his adopter after a temporary foster assignment became a forever-after home. She calls him her "rascal" and loves all his puppy antics. Although both are now enrolled in a puppy obedience class. But, of course, Susan is loving it. |
Jazz
This incredible girl came to us from the Manhattan CACC shelter on the day we participated in the Broadway Barks event. Everyone was enthralled with this tiny, but severely matted lady. Her foster Mom, Lexy, was immediately smitten. She had not intended to adopt her very first foster, but it was meant to be. Lexy kept us posted on Jazz's progress which changed week-to-week. Here is one of the many, wonderful updates (after Jazz's dental procedure)

Maggie
Maggie came to us as an owner-surrender from a home with two human children aged one and three. As we have seen again and again, Maltese do not do well with such young children and Maggie was no exception. She had all sorts of physical reactions to stress in the home. Luckily, Maggie was taken into foster by Sam & Des (the adopters of MMR's senior ladies, Chloe & Gloria). |
Muffin
Dear Muffin came to MMR from the Patterson, NJ shelter. Muffin is elderly, but so incredibly sweet. We had a special adopter family -- Linda & Frank -- who were looking for another senior Malt to love after their wonderful experience in adopting Fogarty from MMR last year. Muffin, despite her recent bad luck with a family who dumped her, was incredibly lucky with her new home. And she represented MMR at the Broadway Barks event, showing all the joys of a beautiful senior girl. |
Murphy
Murphy was found tied to a post in Central Park by a Good Samaritan. After several hours, no one returned to retrieve him, so this dear person took him home. Posters and notices were sent out throughout the neighborhood, but the owner never came forward. Murphy had been abandoned, but was fortunate to have been found by a caring family who have kept him safe.

Nero
Nero is a dear boy whose 81 year old owner could no longer keep him. He was fostered by a special "Guardian Angels" - Carole & Ed - for MMR in NJ. Nero was neutered, but needed dental work and surgery for luxating patella, both of which were covered by MMR. Carol & Ed, and their "Tonka", could not resist Nero's charms and have welcomed him into their home as a permanent member. Hurray for Nero! |
