 Chaz

Chaz

Chaz was a 7 year old owner surrender from L.I. who was given up because he wasn't housebroken. KellyC and her husband were Chaz's foster. They immediately, and mutually, fell in love. With a Golden, Whippet, Cocker and Maltese in the family, Chaz understood that he was part of a very happy "pack". It wasn't long before the family knew that Chaz was home for good.

Lucky

Lucky

Lucky was a sweet, 4 year old boy, who wasn't so lucky when his family's situation began to change. With all the pressures involved in caring for a young family, his Mom decided it was best to find Lucky a new home. But then his luck changed again... Sandy, Jake and their Maltese, Dori, thought Lucky was something special and promised to give him love and care forever. Here is dear Lucky, looking good and living up to his name!

 Xam

xam

pAlthough less than 2 years old, Xam had a tough time of it in his short life. He was a stray brought to the Brooklyn CACC, who was so cute yet so needy. But he'd never admit it, so he acted like a "tough guy". He didn't know who to trust. Luckily, Harriet and her family, as Xam's adopters, saw through the act. They worked with a trainer to show Xam how to be a real member of the family, and that he didn't need to be scared any more. It took lots of time and love to make Xam understand that he was finally safe, loved and home.

 Riley

Riley

At only 3 years old, Riley was brought to a shelter on L.I. because he was "aggressive". His former owners admitted they never tried to train him, but were fed up and wanted him euthanized. Thank goodness (tremendous "goodness") the shelter staff called on MMR to come get Riley. We met an exuberant and loving boy. All he needed was a gentle, guiding hand to show him what to do. He found his "soul mate" in Ming. Here is a photo of Ming and Riley when they met. Need we say more...

 Love

love

Oh my... This is girl IS a love... The Manhattan CACC called MMR during a snow storm asking us to come get this little girl who was so small, but so feisty. We quickly got this little one into foster. Although about 9 years old, Love is a puppy in appearance and personality. We were fortune to have the perfect adopter waiting in the wings... CarolS, who had adopted Baby, was delighted to have another wonderful girl to become part of the family. And we're delighted to keep Love part of ours as Carol is a MMR member!

 Casper

Casper

Casper came to us as an eight year old boy with severe malnutrition -- only 2.2 lbs, when he should have been 3.5. Despite being upset about Casper's deplorable condition, we knew that his former owner had recently died from cancer and Casper had been neglected due to the family's grief. Fortunately, they found MMR and asked that we find Casper a good home. It took lots of loving, patient and knowledgeable care over several months to deal with Casper's physical and then his psychological problems. Little by little, Casper has gained weight and begun to come out of his shell in Dale's home. Casper still has a ways to go... but we know he'll get there. The most important part of Casper's story is that he is home for good.

 Amanda

Amanda

Amanda was supposed to be a Maltese, but was really a cockapoo (didn't matter). Then she was supposed to be one year old, but our vet said she was closer to ten (still no matter). What did matter was that this dear one was surrendered to a local shelter and sorely needed a family with a big heart and a good sized yard. The instant Don and Jenny saw Amanda on PetFinder, their hearts skipped a beat. She was the exact image of their former dog who had passed away. They didn't waste any time in sending in their application. They also didn't care about Amanda's age or history, they knew she was meant to be with them. So now Amanda spends her days giving Don and Jenny lots of joy and running in their big backyard. The latest vet's opinion is that Amanda is no more than three years old... but then again, what does it matter? Amanda is home.

 Dusty

Dusty

Dusty was a breeder's dog... not mistreated but never a true part of a family. At seven years old, Dusty probably thought she didn't have a chance at one. But life takes many turns... When MMR received the call, we asked an MMR member and adopter of Mister to consider taking Dusty into foster. Because this family knew the joys of a rescue dog, they didn't hesitate for an instant. But how were any of us to know that Dusty was Mister's twin, although not related. Dusty seemed to know right away that this was her home, settling in on the "masters'" bed. And she never left... she had picked her new home. Welcome, Dusty!
