Pet Expo 2000

MMR participated in the Long Island Pet Expo at the Nassau Coliseum in November 2000. This represents the group's first major fundraising event. We sold our beautiful calendars; handmade Maltese ornaments; MMR petfood can lids; and holiday gift dog biscuits with special MMR tags, handmade top-knot bows and doggie wrist puppets.

In addition to raising money to cover the vet bills for our precious rescues, we gained tremendous exposure and support for our group. So many people were surprised we even exist! How many times did we hear, "But WHY would anyone give up one of these dogs?!"

We met many terrific, caring people who will certainly become new adopters and volunteers. Most importantly, we had a wonderful time working together for our dogs.

Special thanks to our Beverly who got us into the PetExpo and planned the event. Bev's energy, love and commitment was an inspiration to us all. Way to go, Bev!
