MMR Fall Events 2001

Fall is always a busy time for Metropolitan Maltese Rescue and 2001 was our busiest yet! From Hackensack, NJ to Yorktown Heights, NY, and from Manhattan to various Long Island locales, MMR was there. We met so many Maltese rescue supporters/ contributors/potential fosters and adopters because of these events. Most importantly it was an opportunity for our members to really get to know each other and to meet some truly wonderful MMR dogs. The photos below are some highlights of our events. Enjoy!

Here's Jillayne and CoCo meeting a new friend at one of
our many Petland events. This one was in Hackensack, NJ.

So many products... so little time... Here is a display of our wonderful items for sale at a L.I. Arts & Crafts Fair -- beds, coats, ornaments, treat cups, painted rocks, Maltese plant holders, calendars, etc. We raised lots of money to cover our vet bills and had a great time doing it!

Here's our group at the Freeport, L.I. Arts & Crafts show.

Our rescue dogs were the most compelling and important participants
at all our events. Here's Idgie looking sublime at the Nassau Coliseum.

Here's Sam & Des, with Taylor & Siggy at the Long Beach Crafts Fair
Sam's ventriloquist act with Siggy hooked many a customer.
Who could resist such a face!

We were amazed at Lori's incredible artwork. Here's her "MMR Collage".
We're fortunate to have such loving and talented members.

We always enjoy the Carl Schurz Park "Halloween Howl" and are grateful to the community association for allowing us to be a part of it. Here's Rosemarie's & Max's Oliver, a.k.a. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. No surprise... she/he was awarded a special prize.

MMR had its first opportunity to participate in the E 66th Street
Antiques and Flea  (!!) Market in Manhattan. We'll be sure to be back soon.
Christina and Beth braved the cold, as did Gwenie who attracted so many admirers.

Here's our Bev with Gucci at the beach at Sam & Des's Holiday party. Bev's planning, coordination and "chutzpa" resulted in four extremely successful L.I. events in Manhasset, Freeport, Uniondale and Brookville. We are so grateful for our dear Bev and her love for our group -- all human and canine members.

After all the work, we got to play. This beach scene is from
Des & Sam's Holiday Party in Long Beach. And we did have fun!!
